While it’s not usually our way to wait until the last minute, things around here have been a bit more hectic than usual.

We hope you had a safe and happy Christmas and were not among the many who lost power, missed flights, and faced sheet ice everywhere you went. If you were, you no doubt have plenty on your mind. But we did want to send a late reminder that you can still take advantage of Oregon’s tax credit program for donations to political action committees.

So many of you have been very generous supporting our Educational Foundation in the fight against Ballot Measure 114, but the PAC donation and potential credit are different. The PAC’s funding is generally dedicated to fighting things like Measure 114 at the ballot boxes and OFFPAC was the single largest donor against the measure. And we are sure more are coming.

For many people, a donation to our political action committee could cost them nothing. That’s because Oregon allows an actual credit, (not merely a tax deduction) for people who make donations to PACs. If your federal adjusted gross income is not in excess of $150,000 on a joint return or $75,000 on any other type of return, you can get an actual credit against your taxes of up to $50.00 for those who file as an individual or $100.00 for couples filing jointly.

That means that amount actually comes off any state taxes you owe and would otherwise go to Tina Kotek and the failing government programs like background checks.

If you fall into those categories and want to support our PAC and reduce your tax bill you need to do it BEFORE Jan 1, 2023. Donations received after that date can be applied to your 2023 taxes.

You can use this link. https://oregonfirearms.ejoinme.org/MyPages/DonationPage/tabid/70447/Default.aspx to donate and get your tax credit.

Be sure to pick POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE from the Donation Category drop down menu. If your donation exceeds $100.00 the state also requires that we request your occupation and the name and city of your employer if you are employed.

OFF pac does send printed receipts for tax purposes, but we strongly encourage you to keep the electronic receipt that comes when you donate online.

Thank you very much for your support and happy New Year.
